Two Ozarks fire departments are getting some extra help from the US Department of Homeland Security.
Nixa and Exeter Fire Departments will be sharing more than $650,000 in grant money.
Congressman
Roy Blunt says the money will help increase manpower and improve equipment for
the two departments.
Nixa will get the bulk of the money, which is through a "SAFER" grant, which stands for "staffing for adequate fire and emergency response."
The department plans to add six new firefighters, which allows it to meet national standards of having a four-person crew per truck.
Exeter will be buying new equipment with its $53,000.
