Springfield Police are investigating a late night crime that criss-crossed the south side of the city.

It all stared around 1:30 this morning when a dispute broke out on the parking lot of the McDonalds at Kansas and Battlefield.
The group then made their way down Battlefield to the Hobby Lobby parking lot.

That's where police say the fight escalated.
A 22-year old Springfield male was bumped by a car.

At about the same time, an 18-year-old Springfield man stabbed a 20-year-old Willard man. mallstabbing22007-07-15-1184548412.jpg

The suspects got in a car and fled the scene...witnesses followed.

When the cars entered the Battlefield Mall parking lot, the suspect tried to back his car into the witnesses but hit the wall at Sears causing some damage.

Police finally caught up with the get-away car in the lot of Backyard Burgers on south Campbell.

Three of the five people inside that vehicle were arrested.
