LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. -- A man from Purdy, Mo. died in the crash of three vehicles on I-44 west of Springfield this morning.

Lawrence County Sheriff Brad Delay tells KOLR10 News the crash happened about 7 a.m. today near the 57 mile marker in the eastbound lanes of the interstate.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says Larry D. Hall, 55, died in the crash. The Patrol says Hall's Ford F-150 left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned. Hall was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger car and semi also collided in the crash. The impact of the crash sent debris flying all over the highway, partially blocking eastbound traffic.

Delay says accidents around the holidays are especially tough.

"During the holiday time it does become more difficult because it stops and makes you wonder, 'Were they going to visit family members?' or something along those lines? Or getting home to family members to come in?"
