Firefighters Union Endorses Candidates for Upcoming City Council Vacancies

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Springfield Firefighters Association Local 152 has announced its endorsements for two upcoming vacancies on Springfield City Council.

Councilmen John Rush and Scott Bailes have indicated they will not seek reelection on April 2, 2013. The Association says it is supporting Craig Fishel for Zone 4 and Mike Carroll for General Seat B.

"Fishel is a small business owner in Springfield and a longtime resident in the southeast part of the city," writes Eric Latimer with the Springfield Firefighters Association. "Mike Carroll is an attorney and accountant for a business located in Springfield. Mike will bring a legal and accounting background to the city council. Both candidates will bring more of a diverse front for the council."

Members of the Association also unanimously voted to back all current Council members who are seeking reelection. That includes Mayor Bob Stephens, who has already launched his reelection campaign, as well as Jeff Seifried and Jan Fisk.
