SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- It was a big day for school kids at two Springfield elementary schools Monday.
Volunteers from James River Assembly stopped by Campbell and Delaware Elementary schools for special Christmas assemblies, and brought presents for each child.
The schools were chosen based on the number of children receiving free or reduced price lunches.
The gifts were donated by families who attend James River Assembly, as part of the "Giving Tree" outreach program at the church.
James River has been partnering with school districts for several years to bring Christmas assemblies and perform school maintenance and spruce-up before classes resume each fall.
