SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Restaurants in towns outside of Springfield in Greene County will soon know if they will have to pay to prove they are a safe place to eat.
This morning, the Greene County Commission is set to vote on whether to require those restaurants and businesses to pay for health inspections. If approved, the fees take effect after the first of the year.
Businesses within the Springfield city limits already have to pay for the inspections.
The move is meant to save money for the County Health Department, after state funding was cut.
The Greene County Commission meets this morning at 9:30 in the historic courthouse.
