BELLEFONTE, Ar. -- Police in Arkansas are looking for a man suspected of attempted murder and armed robbery in Bellefonte yesterday.
Police responded to the call at Unique Treasures to find the store owner had been shot in the face and arm; he was still able to describe what happened.
27 year old Phillip Engles was identified as being the shooter and is believed to be acting alone.
He was disarmed by the victim and fled the scene with over $1,000 in stolen merchandise.
After dropping off the vehicle used in the robbery as well as some of the stolen items at a residence in southern Boone County, Engles and a female companion fled to a remote area on the Boone County and Newton County line.
Phillip Engles left 29 year old Mandy Engles during his flight from the approaching officers.
She was taken into custody and is currently being held and is awaiting formal charges.
Tracking dogs were used, but they were unable to locate Philip.
The Boone County sheriff says he anticipates Phillip Engles to be charged with attempted capital murder, aggravated robbery and theft.
He also says anyone who encounters Engles should consider him to be armed and dangerous.
The victim is in good condition at Springfield hospital.
