SPRINGFIELD, Mo -- Three wins which includes an upset of the eleventh ranked team in the nation... Illinois State. That's the past three weeks for the Missouri State Bears.

Most recently the bears defeated Western Illinois yesterday on homecoming.

As a result Bears sophomore safety and Fair Grove native Caleb Shaffitzel was named MVC defensive player of the week. In the 42-3 win Shaffitzel recorded nine tackles and two interceptions.

This is the first time in eight years the Bears have won three straight and to no surprise, Terry Allen says this feels a lot better than the start of the season.

COLUMBIA, Mo -- The Missouri Tigers are now included in the SEC win club.

Yesterday the Tigers won their first conference game with a 33-10 homecoming victory over the Kentucky Wildcats.

Mizzou now improves back to .500 with a record of 4-4.

Red-shirt freshman Corbin Berkstresser got the start. But James Franklin took over in the second.  Mizzou coach Gary Pinkel comments on that particular move.

"Corbin was struggling.  He's not the first quarterback to have ever struggled at all.  And he won't be the last.  I think that I got on the phone with coach Yost and we talked about it Thursday staff meeting.  If it got into that situation that we would most likely put James in.  We let him know the series before that we'd do it.  But we were very, very controlled on what we had him run and pass..."
