BRANSON, Mo. -- An ordinance to allow deer hunting in Branson gets preliminary approval by the Board of Aldermen.
The goal is to cut down on traffic accidents within city limits.
Tuesday night, the board heard from the police chief, and a biologist with the Missouri Department of Conservation.
According to the Department, the deer population within the city appears to be almost double the recommended levels.
If approved, bowhunting will be allowed if a person has a license.
Hunting would not be allowed within 150 yards of a building.
The ordinance goes before the board for final approval October 23.
