SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Logan-Rogersville Fire Department teamed up with Domino's Monday, in hopes of making homes safer.

Pizza makers and firefighters get together for National Fire Prevention Week twice a year.

They choose an order from Domino's at random. Then, a customer gets a surprise visit from firefighters who deliver the pie.

They check the home's smoke detectors for working batteries. If everything works, the meal is free.

"I honestly, I think it's great," says Kelli Lawrence, who got a free meal. "With all the fires that have happened over the last couple of months, and with it getting cold weather, and everybody's turning on the heaters and changing their filters, it's nice to know that everything's in working condition."

If the alarms are not working, the department helps make sure they're all working properly.
