SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Three Springfield churches came together for two different celebrations today, the Blessing of the Animals and World Communion Day.
The 7th annual Blessing of the Animals was held this morning on the north lawn of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Many people brought their cuddly friends out to take part in this special event.
"This is in honor of Saint Francis Assisi who loved God's creations especially God's animals and talked with them," says Reverend Ward Rudolph, "We do it in spirit of stewardship of all God's planet and in this 21st century companion pets are a very important part of American society"
The service gave all four legged creatures there the opportunity to become holy.
