SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals are one win away from making history.

Springfield has never won a Texas League Championship, but that may change this weekend in Frisco, Texas.

Last night, the Cards were down 4-nothing, with two outs in the eighth, when Springfield started a rally.

Xavier Scruggs singles to center, Oscar Taveras and Jamie Romak both score it's 4-3.

Then Adam Melker singles to left, Greg Garcia scores we're tied at four.

Audry Perez then doubles down the line in right, it's fair, Scruggs and Melker both score, and Springfield wins 6-4.

"The club plays the game the right way," said Cards manager Mike Shildt. "So I don't have to give them a lot of inspiration. They know what they're doing. They're professionals they go about it the right way and they compete the right way and they're talented. They're talented and they've got high character so it's a really good combination. It's a special group. Obviously you like to be up 2-0. You just play the game regardless of what the situation is. Tonight was kind of representative of that. We'll go down there and play our game. We'll compete and play fundamentally sound. We'll play Cardinal baseball and we'll take our best shot."

"We never quit and it's a team effort all the time," said Cards outfielder Adam Melker. "1-9 we're all doing stuff and plugging away and we never feel like we're out of it. We had a game like this against Tulsa, same kind of comeback situation and that's the team summed up in one game."

The Cardinals will play in Game 3 this Friday at 7 p.m. Game 4, if necessary, will be Saturday at 7 p.m. A Game 5 would be at 7 p.m. Sunday.
