(SPRINGFIELD) --The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks had its bloodmobile at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Springfield today, for a blood drive with an extra special meaning.
It has been almost eleven years since planes hit the World Trade Center in New York City, and people are eager to continue to make a difference after the 9/11 tragedies.
At Sunday's blood drive, people could commit to donate blood on the eleventh anniversary of 9/11, which is Tuesday.
"...(It's) something I can give, something people need," says church member Christopher Landorf. "Another way to honor the troops and people who are out there fighting for us."
The required time period between donations is 56 days.
