While the St. Louis Cardinals game with the Chicago Cubs was postponed due to the accident, the Springfield Cardinals decided to play ball on sunday, taking on the Tulsa Drillers.
A win for the Birds would once again tie them for first place in the Texas League North.
Before the game, the Cards held a moment of silence, honoring the memory of Josh Hancock.
And Cards starting pitcher Chris Lambert would have made him proud, Lambert was pretty much unhittable, striking out Jonathan Herrera and Aaron Rifkin swinging in the first.
In the second, Lambert sat down Ryan Mattheus to end the inning. Then in the third, he gets Joe Gaetti way out in front to end the third. Lambert struck out six over just four innings, giving up one run on two hits. He got ejected in the fifth for hitting a batter after giving up a home run. Then Pop Warner also got ejected for backing up his player.
The Cards got run support in the bottom of the third, Jon Jay with the yardwork, a solo shot, it's one-nothing home team.
It was three-two Cards in the 8th, the Cards add some pad, Bryan Anderson with the RBI double, making it four-two.
And the Cards win by that final score, they are now tied for the lead in the North.
And after the game, Lambert got the promotion to Triple-A Memphis.
