ASH GROVE, Mo. -- Governor Jay Nixon plans to visit a Greene County farm Tuesday to update the state's emergency water program.

The Democrat will stop by Kim Keith's farm in Ash Grove to survey a water well project -- one that he says was made possible by his emergency water program.

Gov. Nixon has approved more than 5,600 contracts to provide access to water for livestock producers and farmers in Missouri by digging or deepening wells, extending piping or other practices.

He says the average cost of projects for livestock operations has been about $4,800.
