SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Seven Springfield businesses have been granted exemptions to the Smokefree Air Act of 2011, city health officials announced Thursday.
The exemptions came about after the City Council approved modifications to the indoor smoking law, to allow smoking at existing cigar bars, private clubs and tobacco retailers.
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department granted exemptions to:
Knights of Columbus Bingo Emporium, 2340 W. Grand St.
Opus Cigar Bar, 300 Park Central East (located inside Fedora Social House)
The Albatross Hookah Bar and Lounge, 320 E. Walnut St.
Just For Him, 1334 E. Battlefield Road
Discount Smoke Shop, 2845 W. Chestnut Expressway
Don Johnson's Tobacco World, 1420 S. Glenstone Ave.
Smoker's Outlet, 1446 E. Kearney St.
According to the amended law, indoor smoking is allowed in exempted businesses as long as no paid employees are working in the smoking areas, and the smoking areas are clearly labeled.
