(NW Arkansas) -- When the Royals drafted a 6'4" lefty from a California high school in 2008... Everyone knew he was quite the catch.
Once KC made that first round pick, Mike Montgomery was on the fast track to the majors.
Ranking in as the franchises' third best prospect, Montgomery found himself in Triple-A Omaha in just his fourth professional season, at the age of 21.
But he hit a bump in the road, the size of a pitchers mound. Now... Monty is back in Double-A with the Naturals, which doesn't sound nearly as bad as what you would think.
He's here to learn, finally taking a rewind in his fast forwarding career.
And remember, Montgomery is still only 23 years old. So Royals fans, his ceiling is still as high as ever.
