Long: Fewer Regulations Key to Rebuilding U.S. Businesses

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- All major political parties in the U.S. will tell you there's a lot at stake with this year's elections for the White House, U.S. House and Senate.
Southwest Missouri's U.S. Rep. Billy Long believes the economy and jobs is still the number one issue. Long joined fellow Republicans Tuesday night to watch primary election returns come in. He says he's hopeful negative campaign ads will stop going into the November general elections.
But he'll be closely watching the U.S. Senate race between incumbant Sen. Claire McCaskill and GOP challenger Rep. Todd Akin.
Long says he will continue to push for a balanced budget amendment- and he's hopeful that the U.S. will work toward employing more people.
"The main thing is to get regulations out of the way and get off people's backs so we can employ people in this country. The employers are hamstrung with all the regulations," Long says.
"Regulations in this country cost $1.75 trillion for our employers. The gross national product of Canada is less than $1.75 trillion so our employers are paying more in regulation costs than what Canada takes on in a year"
Long says he hopes the Republican party will unite as we head toward November so they can take on the White House and Senate.

Which regulations would you get rid of, Billy? Please be specific.

Business owners have been making that phoney claim for years. After granting them every concession possible, they still moved their factories overseas. The only cure is very high tariffs on imported goods. The factories would be back in five years.
