SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- As students head back to class next week, there's a need tonight for more than just school supplies.

Every year, Ozarks Food Harvest provides backpacks of food for students in need who may not get to eat on weekends.

The group always includes hygiene items in those backpacks with things like toothpaste, shampoo and soap.

Ozarks Food Harvest is asking the community to help provide extra hygiene items for the upcoming year. A cash donation can also help.

"Twenty dollars will help provide a child with hygiene items all school year long," says Bart Brown, CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest. "It's an investment many people can make right now. It's really important and we'd really like people to think about that as kids go back to school."

Brown says Ozarks Food Harvest will start putting together the backpacks next week.  He says anyone who would like to host a hygiene item drive can find out more information online.
