AVA, Mo. -- Two people face charges in Douglas County following a sheriff's department raid that turned up marijuana plants and suspected methamphetamine.

Sheriff Chris Degase says deputies got a tip about the pot being grown on property north of Ava, and went there to talk to the people renting it.  Degase says one of them led deputies to several plants scattered around the property.

Several hypodermic needles and clear plastic bag which field tested positive for methamphetamines were also found.  Two people, a man and a woman, both from Mansfield, were arrested.

Jessica Simmons, 21, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Anthony Brooke, 49, was charged with Manufacture/Produce or Attempt to Manufacture Marijuana.

Both Simmons and Brooke were arraigned in court this morning and both pleaded not guilty.
