OZARK, Mo. -- The FBI is helping local law enforcement investigate a series of Walmart evacuations.

At least 11 Supercenters in Kansas and Missouri were evacuated between Friday and Sunday -- including stores in Nixa (1102 N Massey Blvd.) and Ozark (2004 W Marler Ln) -- following phoned-in bomb threats.

A spokesman for the FBI confirmed its involvement to KCTV in Kansas City Monday.

Authorities are declining to say whether they believe one person is responsible for the bomb threats or whether copycats are involved.

Two Walmarts in Lawrence, Kan., were evacuated just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Sgt. Kirk Fultz said one of the stores was at 550 Congressional Drive while the second one was at 3300 Iowa St.

Fultz said the voice in the message stated bombs were in the stores, and that many people would die. Police found nothing suspicious, and customers were allowed to return to the store.

At least eight Walmart locations across Missouri were evacuated Friday evening after receiving similar threats.
