JOPLIN, Mo. -- Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is back in the Ozarks today to provide an update on the emergency water cost-share program.

Nixon will make a stop at the Joplin Regional Stockyards at 11:00 a.m.  He is expected to update the number of people who've been approved for the emergency water assistance program.

As of Friday, almost 250 applications had been approved.

$7 million in funding is available for farmers and livestock producers in Missouri, to help them drill new wells to access water for their animals.

The deadline to register for the program is a week from today, August 6.
