MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- Vandals left behind about $15,000 in damage and messages of hate at a northwest Arkansas church.

The Baxter County Sheriff says the pastor of Arkana Baptist Church in Mountain Home discovered the mess just after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Sheriff John Montgomery says the burglars gained access to the building through an unlocked door and knocked over tables and chars, poked holes in the walls, threw around other items, and even took some money.

According to the Baxter Bulletin, the burglars spray-painted messages on the walls, one of which read "White power, join the KKK." Another included a misspelling of the word "devil."

The sheriff asks that any persons with information about the break-in and vandalism to contact the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division.
