SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The continuing intense heat is forcing organizers of a farmers' market operation in Springfield, Missouri to scale back hours of operation during the heat of the day.
The Greater Springfield Farmers' Market announced Tuesday it is dropping its afternoon and evening session on Thursdays over concerns for the health of customers and vendors.
The market is located outdoors on the parking lot of the Battlefield Mall. The earlier sessions from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays will still be held, market officials said in a news release.
"...we don't want people to put their health at risk by exposure to the extreme afternoon heat," said market manager Brad Gray, in the release.
