Springfield --  Craft beer fans were raising a mug at the Springfield Craft Beer Bash Saturday.

The inaugural event staged on Park Central Square in Springfield, and featured more than 40 craft beers.  Live music is provided by a variety of bands.

Mothers Brewing Company came up with the idea for this event. Hundreds of people are flocking to the square to take part in this first Springfield Craft Beer Bash. Organizers are hoping enough people show interest to make this and annual event.

English Management's Laura Head said; "It was really their idea from the brewing side of it to host a craft beer event. They came to us and said all across the nation different cities have these craft beer festivals and we feel that Springfield is ready for that. We could put something on that our crowd in the downtown community and the Springfield community would really stand behind it."

The festival wraps up around eleven tonight and features local and regional beers.
