Racetrack Developer Files Chapter 11; Land Sale Postponed Again

TANEY COUNTY, Mo. -- The sale of a piece of land for a proposed race track in Taney County is canceled.

On Friday, the Taney County Sheriff was set to auction off the land owned by Russell and Wanda Cook.

Arvest Bank hadn't received payments from the Cooks so it was awarded the right to sell the land.

However, an attorney for the Cooks says they filled a Chapter 11 bankruptcy Thursday. That puts an automatic stay on any sale.

The Cooks had wanted to put in a NASCAR-style race track on the land. Several neighbors have objected.
