Seven Employees Promoted Within Springfield Police Department

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Seven employees have been promoted within the Springfield Police Department.

The department held a promotion ceremony Wednesday afternoon for three Lieutenants, one Major and three non-sworn employees.

Sergeants Tad Peters, Shawn Williams and Scott Umbarger were promoted to Lieutenant. The department says they'll assume command positions within the department.

Sgt Peters has been on the department for 15 years and is currently the supervisor for Internal Affairs.

Sgt. Umbarger has been on the department for 20 years and currently a patrol squad supervisor within the Uniform Operations Bureau.

Sgt Williams has been on the department for 20 years and is currently a patrol squad supervisor within the Uniform Operations Bureau.

Lieutenant Kirk Manlove was promoted to the rank of Major. Lt. Manlove has been with the department for 18 years and is currently assigned as the Commander of the Investigations and Support Services Bureau (ISSB) where he has been in an acting position since May 4.

The department says Lt. Manlove will remain in that position following his promotion.

Meanwhile, Chris Woods was promoted from Computer Forensic Analyst to Senior Computer Forensic Analyst. Woods has been with the department for three years.

Judy Bell was recognized for her promotion earlier this year from Administrative Assistant to Office Administrator. She's been with the department for six years.

And Melody Saul was promoted in January from Police Service Representative to Shift Supervisor. She'd been with the department for six years.
