(Eldon, MO) -- A Miller County deputy involved in a single-vehicle crash is now facing drug charges.

Paul Emmett Hill, 29, of Rocky Mount, Missouri, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) -- a Class C Felony.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. on Hayes Drive near Eldon on Wednesday.

Per policy, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was brought in to investigate the accident. Troopers say they found meth and drug paraphernalia in Hill's car and say he was under the influence of drugs while he was driving.

Hill was immediately placed on administrative leave; his employment has since been terminated.

"This type of behavior is unacceptable in any law enforcement agency and absolutely will not be tolerated in Miller County," says Sheriff William Abbott.

Hill is held in Camden County Adult Detention Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash or surety.
