Spence: Missouri Losing Business to Right-to-Work States

(Jefferson City, MO) -- With about six weeks to go before the August primaries, candidates for office are getting serious in their campaigns.

One of the Republican candidates for governor is trying to drum up support from all corners of the state. Dave Spence says he has now campaigned in all 114 Missouri counties.

"People will be nice back if you're nice to them, and you talk with people versus at them. That's one skill that I've always had. That's something I pride myself on is that everyone puts on their pants the same way."

Spence says Missouri is losing business to right-to-work states, but he hesitates to say he would work to drop the state's non right-to-work status without some sort of buy-in from the state's unions.

"And that's not my goal to put people out of work, my goal is to get people back to work. And And I think that we need to come to the table and talk as reasonable Missourians. To have all this all or nothing type conversation is futile for both sides."

Spence faces Attorney Bill Randles from Kansas City in the Republican primary for governor in August.
