The Missouri Soybeans Association announced their support for Democrat Gov. Jay Nixon for reelection.
In a statement Wednesday, the group said Nixon has been an "effective leader" for agriculture and rural economies.
"From day one, Gov. Jay Nixon has worked with soybean farmers and the entire agriculture community to help us sell more products, create more jobs and be more competitive in the world market," said Dale Ludwig, Executive Director and CEO of the Missouri Soybean Association. "It's not about political party; it's about having a Governor who has been a strong leader for Missouri agriculture and rural job creators."
The group praised new trade deals, Nixon's opposition to tax increases, and Nixon's work on the Missouri river issues in their endorsement.
Earlier in the year, the association endorsed Republican John Brunner's candidacy for U.S. Senate.
