(Ozark, MO) -- Three citizens were honored Tuesday with the Heroism Award.

On May 30, a semi truck was on fire after an accident on Highway NN in Christian County. The driver was trapped inside the cab of the truck.

When rescue crews arrived, they feared the worst but before they got there, three witnesses risked their lives and pulled the trucker to safety.

The three men are all from Christian County, and are Jake Estes, Tyson Foster and Barry Baker.

The trucker, Donald Boyle, was transported to the hospital and has since been released.

"I remember one guy telling me you need to get out of there or your gonna die," says Boyle. "I heard them kicking the windows in and they said, 'Put your hands out where we can see it.' I don't remember coming out of the truck, but I put my hands up and next thing I know I was getting drugged along the ground."

The heroism award is to honor the three individuals for displaying a selfless commitment of valor.
