(Springfield, Mo)
-- It's usually played in the common basement, but this weekend some athletes
were in town who take table tennis a little more seriously.
Growing up the typical way would leave you with memories of
soccer fields and baseball diamonds.
But if you're Kerry Xiao, you're dog days of summer are
filled with something else.
Table tennis is a rather unknown in the United
States, unlike China
where it's the national sport, something Kerry has benefited from.
Will Todd is also a table tennis player, but when he
started, it was a different kind of table.
From the coffee table student, to the professional teacher,
will runs a training facility in Salt Lake City
Utah. And he's here for the love of the
game.
Will and Kerry both have rankings over 2000 making them
advanced players.
On the main stage the rules are different, it's a game of
hide and seek to see who serves, and for other rules you'll just have to take a
class.
Finally... if you were wondering it is technically called
table tennis.
