Missouri Congressman Russ Carnahan says fellow Congress member William Lacey Clay is making St. Louis less-influential in Congress.
Carnahan says the veteran representative from north St. Louis cut deals with state politicians that did away Carnahan's congressional district.
"Thanks to Congressman Clay, and his deals with state Republicans, in an attempt to keep a politically comfortable seat for himself, St. Louis now has only one, and not two, Democratic seats in the U.S. House."
The Missouri Supreme Court Friday upheld the state's new congressional map drawn by the state legislature in 2011.
It includes eight districts and draws Carnahan in to the same district with Clay. Carnahan is running against Clay in the August Democratic primary.
