Wong Goes Deep Again As Cards Edge Drillers

(Springfield, Mo.) -- The Springfield Cards looking to take a second-straight game over Tulsa and earn at least a split in the four-game home series.

    Pitching for the first time since last season was Cards righty Deryk Hooker.

    Hooker says he woke up last year with a broken bone in his non-pitching elbow but isn't sure how it happened.

    He was activated after John Gast was called up to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

    Hooker Nolan Arenado looking. Hooker went three scoreless surrendering just a pair of hits.

    In the bottom of the third Tulsa lefty Nick Schmidt also working gets Greg Garcia but then Kolten Wong takes him deep for his fourth homer, and second in as many days.

    Cards look to add another here when Jose Garcia singles, but Tim Torres throws out pitcher Michael Blazek.

    Blazek took over for Hooker and picked up the 1-0 Springfield win.
