Petree's Streak Continues As Bears Beat Aces

(Springfield, Mo.) -- The Missouri State Bears started a three-game Missouri Valley set with Evansville Friday.
The Bears are hoping to hold their first place spot in the league heading in to next weekend's series at second place Indiana State.
Starter Nick Petree hasn't allowed an earned run in 64 2/3 innings coming in to the game, and had thrown 30-straight scoreless innings, a single season Bears record.
Top of the first strikes out Jason Hockemeyer then in the second gets Kyle Schwinghamer and Kevin Kazmarski.
In the bottom of the third, Eric Cheray lays down the sac bunt scoring Luke Voit, 1-0 Bears.
In the fifth, Brent Seifert hits one to right just inside the chalk, Kevin Medrano scores and it's 2-0.
Top of the sixth, Petree gets Chris Pearson.
Petree threw eight more scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out nine.
The sophomore's streak of consecutive innings without an earned run sits at 72 2/3.
Petree's scoreless innings streak is now at 38 innings, which is a Bears career record.
