Streetscape Project to Temporarily Close Two Walnut Intersections

(Springfield, MO) -- The City of Springfield is giving advance warning of two intersection closings next Thursday, May 10.

From 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day, the intersection of Walnut Street and John Q. Hammons Parkway will be closed. Then from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, the intersection of Walnut Street and Kimbrough Avenue will be closed.

The City says the color of the crosswalks is one of the last elements remaining to complete the Walnut Street Streetscape project.

That project included sidewalk and street pavement replacement, new pedestrian street lights, and storm water facilities.

The City says the project makes "this section of roadway more attractive as a part of the Walnut Street historic neighborhood and as a link between downtown and MSU campus."
