Taveras Leads Offensive Output In Cards Win

The Springfield Cardinals were looking for a third-straight Sunday afternoon, facing the Arkansas Travelers for the second game of a four game set.

Cards can earn at least a split with the Angels affiliate.

In the bottom of the first, Oscar Taveras hits his 8th home run, and it was 3-0 Cardinals.

In the bottom of the third, Chris Swauger knocks home Jermaine Curtis pushing the Cards lead to 4-2.

In the top of the fourth Tyler Lyons gets Jeremy Cruz looking, Lyons went six innings had four strikeouts and one earned run.

In the bottom of the fifth, Kyle Conley sends a ball deep to right center and Taveras scores from first to make it 5-2 Birds.

In the same inning, Greg Garcia rips it down the right field line bringing home Conley and Swauger and it's 7-2.

Two batters later, Adam Melker singles to left scoring two more runs and the Cards hold on to win 10-7.
