The week-long event called Take Your Nose to Work is sponsored by The Giggle Box Project.
Employers provide red clown noses for their employees to wear to encourage laughter and fun throughout the workweek.
The organization is dedicated to promoting physical healing and the emotional well-being of kids in hospitals.
The money raised this week will help pay for "giggleboxes" filled with toys and other things to give to kids in hospitals to make them laugh.
Those participating may enter a photo contest for the most creative and fun photos.
Winners will be announced at the end of the week, and prizes will be awarded to those winners.
"We are celebrating World Laughter Week, Sunday May 6th is actually the start of World Laughter Week and World Laughter Day," said Susan Dempsey, Executive Director of the Giggle Box project. "And we are suggesting that the whole city go out and purchase a red nose for $2 and support the Giggle Box project."
The red clown noses may be purchased from the Giggle Box project, a local non-profit organization that's part of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
The long-term goal of the Giggle Box project is to be able to donate a "gigglebox" to every patient in every hospital in the United States.
