Southern Illinois was in town Friday, and the first-place Bears are just a half game up on the Salukis and Indiana State in the Valley standings with less than a month left in the season.
Nick Petree carrying a 49 1/3 scoreless inning streak in to the game strikes out Tanner Renner in the first, again in the fourth
Petree went seven innings had nine strikeouts and extends that streak to 56 1/3 innings.
In the bottom of the 7th, Cody Forsythe strikes out Keenen Maddox.
Freshman Tyler Burgess on in relief gets Chris Seritella to ground to Eric Cheray and the freshman turns the unassisted double play.
Maddox hit a walk off in the ninth, and Bears win 1-0.
It marked the 25th time the Bears have won 30 games in a season under Keith Guttin.
