Flash Flood Danger in Ozarks Today

Heavy rains across the Ozarks pose the threat of flash flooding today across southwest Missouri.
The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning, due in effect through 1:00 p.m., for Jasper, Newton, northwestern McDonald and western Lawrence counties.

But runoff from excessive rainfall throughout the region could cause flash flooding to occur in other counties as well. Streams and low water crossings will be especially susceptible to the danger, the Weather Service said.
A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. When a Flash Flood Warning is issued, and you live along streams and creeks, take immediate action to protect life and property.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams...Highways and underpasses. Additionally...country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks...streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.
