The Springfield Cardinals had a noon getaway game Tuesday at Hammons Field, playing the rubber game of a series with Midland before getting on the bus to Frisco.
Nobody scores in the first inning, and Midland draws first blood when Anthony Aliotti doubles to center, sending Josh Horton in to score.
Midland's AJ Griffin had a no-hitter going until the 5th inning and was pulled in the 7th. Springfield starts to make some traction. A couple of wild pitches by Midland lets Cardinals move runners around the base, making it 3-1 in the 7th.
Springfield added two more in the 8th as Jake Shaffer brought home Rainel Rosario and Jose Garcia with a two-run single to center to make it a 5-1 lead.
Then an unearned run in the 9th makes it 5-2 Cardinals.
