Looking for Warmer Weather

How does a trip to the tropics sound?  Combine the ice storms with frigid temperatures and a lot of people are inquiring about vacations where it's warm and sunny.

People calling Great Southern Travel have been checking into warm weather destinations.  Travel agents tell KOLR10 News that many people are applying for passports to head to tropical climates like Mexico and Jamaica.

Agents also say as this winter wears on, there will be an even bigger demand for travel due to all of the stress and exhaustion from dealing with the less than ideal conditions. 

"Actually, the cold weather really makes people want to get out and take a vacation especially this year with the ice storm.  It was very stressful for people.  So they really want to get out and have some fun and some relaxation because that was kind of exhausting for them." says Deana Crouch with Great Southern Travel.

On the flipside, Donna Cambridge with Chesterfield Cruise and Travel says several travelers have cancelled their trips because unexpected expenses after the ice storm are cutting into their travel budgets.  Cambridge says the people who are planning to travel want big savings which are hard to come by now because of added security charges.
