Parks in the City of Springfield are closed for the immediate future, Mayor Tom Carlson announced Tuesday.
Carlson said parks and trails will be closed for the near term for public safety, and to give parks staff time to assess damage to grounds and buildings.
The Doling and Northview Centers will remain open as community centers, Carlson said. The Jordan Valley Ice Park remains closed due to a lack of power.
Carlson said the animals at Dickerson Park Zoo were safe and being cared for. There was damage to trees and some fencing on the zoo grounds, but no animals were lost.
