The Missouri Valley conference named Bears junior point guard Spencer Laurie as its newcomer of the week. This after the transfer from Mizzou collected a career high 16 points against Bradley and a career high eight assists against Wichita State. Missouri State hit the practice court Monday afternoon focused on the next game, Tuesday night's date with Evansville.
Any celebration over Sunday's Wichita State victory was short lived. Three Bears were in double figures as Missouri State won 95-87. It's the Bears first win against Wichita State since 2002.
But the 12-and-3 Bears know they have to refocus on the Aces.
Barry Hinson/Missouri State Coach:"We have some other mental hurdles. We haven't scratched the surface once at Wichita State. We've not played well at home against Evansville. We've always played better at Evansville then at our own place. This group hasn't won at Southern Illinois. So we've got some other hurdles but we have to take them one game at a time." Spencer Laurie/Valley Newcomer of the Week:"It's basketball, you're always excited about the next game. We had a good win tonight, but we have to get ready to see what we need to do to win against Evansville."
