ECOmmunity Festival on C-Street

The C-Street community is excited to announce the first ECOmmunity Festival.

The festival is a day-long celebration honoring the season's return of the C-Street Market. Local farmers have been bringing fresh goods to the C-Street Market for 13 years, but this year's opening day will be joined by a showcase of sustainable products, services and lifestyles available to the community. The festival is free and open to the public and will begin at 9am Saturday May 8, 2010.
 
Planned Schedule of Events
 
8:00a-10:00a Booth Check-In and Set-Up

9:00a- 5:00p C-Street Merchant Sidewalk Sale
10:00a- 3:00p ECO Festival
10:00a- 8:00p Live Music
1:00p- 4:00p Community Workshops and ECO Learning Classes
4:00p Renewable Art Contest Judging
7:00p Street Dance
 
Participating Vendors and Organizations
 
Vendors and organizations interested in hosting a booth at the festival will need to submit an application by April 9. Eligible businesses, organizations, and vendors include, but are not limited to:
 
-Businesses offering home solutions-builders, nurseries, gardens, energy generation
 
-School groups (elementary through university level)-outdoor clubs, sustainability groups, environmental clubs)
 
-Merchants offering eco-friendly products-recycled products, renewable materials, outdoor recreation products
 
-Not-for-profits-groups aimed at building community/environmental protection, local solutions, outdoor life
 
Participants are encouraged to provide information about their products or organization, practical demonstrations, hands-on activities for children and/or adults, Do-it-yourself solutions, items festival walkers can take with them, and fun and interesting ways to show environmental and community awareness. While selling items at booths is permissible with a valid City of Springfield peddler's license or business license, organizations are encouraged to supply offer free hands-on activities and demonstrations.

Other areas of opportunity include musicians or entertainers (available to perform ½-1 hour shows) and event volunteers for set-up, tear down, and event maintenance.
