Troops22007-09-26-1190856372.JPGMiddle school students marched out of the classroom and onto the streets today to show their support for US troops in Iraq Wednesday.

This is the second year for this Willard Middle School rally organized by “Operation: Hometown Hero” supporters -- the community and veterans were invited to sign a supporters' list that will be sent overseas along with messages and video for the soldiers.

Many students say they know this small event has a big impact on troops away from home.

“It’s very important because we have to support troops in Iraq so they know we still care about them,” says Willard student Lacy Bergiel.

The rally included a pledge of allegiance and singing of the national anthem.

Students stayed out in support of the troops from 3:00 Wednesday afternoon until about 5:30.
