As families in Arkansas are still waiting for the lights to come back on, many students in Springfield were out waiting for the school bus today.R-12 classes were back in session today after a three-day snow break.
School leaders say they assessed the roads yesterday and felt they were safe for the buses and students who walk to class.
Some parents we spoke to say they understand why the schools were closed, but they're ready for the kids to head back to the books.
Parent Randy Smith says, "we maneuvered around the city just fine yesterday. But I do understand why the canceled school. There's a lot of back roads that weren't cleared."
Parent Katherine Harp adds, "I grew up in Iowa. We always had school. So it's good for the kids. She was missing school."
School leaders won't have an official attendance number for today until early next week.
