Tour de France Champion Will Come to the Ozarks

When the Innagural Tour of Missouri stops in the Ozarks next month, it will bring with it some of the best cyclists in the world.


The Discovery Channel Cycling Team will take part in the event.


Including the Tour de France winner Alberto Contador, third-place finisher Levi Leipheimer, eighth-place finisher Yaroslav Popovych and U.S. National Champion George Hincapie.


Discovery is one of 15 teams scheduled to compete.  The team is breaking up after this season, so it'll be the final time they'll ride together in the United States.

The ride begins on September 11th in Kansas City.  On Wednesday the 12th, they'll ride from Clinton, 125 miles to Springfield, they're scheduled to get into Springfield around three-thirty.  The next day, on the 13th, they'll have an 18 mile time trial in Branson, beginning at 10 am.  On the 14th, they'll leave Lebanon at 10 am and head 133 miles to Columbia.  It will wrap up in St. Louis on September 16th.
