You'll soon see traffic boots on cars that have repeatedly parked in illegal spots around Springfield.  The city council gave the go ahead to purchase the boots for the police department.

The devices look like big clamps and are attached to one of the wheels of a vehicle.  It prevents the car from moving anywhere until it's unlocked by an officer.

The booting would be a $50 fee plus the amount of the unpaid ticket.

The Council says it plans to speak with businesses about the most pressing needs.

"I'm happy to hear that you are going to include those people because it's important for them to know what will be taking place." says Councilman Denny Whayne.

The council also approved an ordinance to raise bus fares throughout the city.
