(Springfield, MO) -- Some Springfield school children visited with two special guests Monday morning in honor of Veterans Day.
Marine Major Larry Jenkins and retired Air Force Officer Glenn Brown spoke with Sequiota students during an assembly.
Major Jenkins says it's part of a community outreach program to let students see the military and hear their stories.
"I think it is important for them to see the military outside of just what they see on TV. A lot of them have military in their families on a face to face level, but I think it's a good idea for kids to see and talk to people and get their experiences and ideas and learn about the military and our role in today's society." says Major Jenkins.
Major Jenkins is currently working with Disney Elementary students to create a movie about his experiences introducing ice hockey in Turkey.
